Still no sponsor & slow progress on the winter refresh

With no major sponsor for the 2009 season, it seems we will not be able to compete.
Work has progressed very slowly on refreshing the R6 to enable it become a very trick trackday bike, with the intention being to at least do a few trackdays over the course of the coming summer. The body work has been repaired and is now at the painters and the rear subframe swapped for a straight one. The engine is still to be done (when it warms up a bit!)
Alan will be testing on the 14th, 21st and 22nd of February before the first round at Brands Hatch in March, but due to a shortage of IT contracts currently, it is uncertain with he can compete for the full season.

Next year?
For me to compete next year or in 2010 I will need to get a lot more financial help to replace the R6 for a later race bike. The Yamaha will be 10 years old next year and although fast for the year once refreshed, it has struggled to compete with the newer machines on the grid this season. I am hopeful that a package can be put together but if not I may compete in the odd round and will be at most rounds supporting Alan.
If you can or know anybody that would be interested in supporting a race team then please contact me, thanks...more>

Brands Hatch, the final bemsee meeting of 2008...
At this meeting I will be taking on my new role for next year as team manager for Alan Lau, curry fishball racing. This round isn't an official 600 supersport one but Alan will be competing in the powerbikes class against the big 1000's and in the Champion of Brands race. Next year should be interesting with Alan now getting to grips with his 2008 Yamaha R6, now running a strong mid-pack position and with the use of datalogging equipment to analyse his performance and hard work, he should improve further.

Oulton Park - exciting, damp and a visit to Chester hospital
I had never been to Oulton before, only to spectate, so when Alan suggested an end of season trackday I was up for it. Unfortunately we could only manage 6 dry laps all day but we had a good day, with no pressure, finding our way around the Cheshire circuit.
It was a shame it ended with Alan highsiding his R6 at Druids and having to go to Chester hospital with a broken collar bone. At least it was the end of the season and he has all winter to recover!

Brands Hatch - 19th June 2008, time to test
It had been weeks, months even, since I had last been out on the race bike which was at of course Cadwell Park. I had booked this trackday in advance with Focused Events, not a favourite company of mine but this day was an open pit lane day which meant more track time and less novices...more>   Download the videos:

A successful first outing at Brands Hatch
A successful first outing at Brands Hatch
Saturday the 1st March was originally designed to be a test and first outing for the rebuilt race bike but as I had been nursing an injured back for the last 10 weeks, the bike was going to be the least of my concerns...more>
